Frosty questions, straight answers
Pull up a snowbank. Here's everything people ask before their first order.
About the vials
What is a lyophilized peptide?
Lyophilization is freeze-drying: the peptide solution is frozen and the water is removed under vacuum, leaving a dry powder "cake" at the bottom of the vial. That dry form is how labs usually receive and store peptides. Every peptide we sell arrives this way.
How should freeze-dried peptides be stored?
Keep sealed vials cool, dry and out of direct light, and follow your lab's own storage procedures. We don't publish shelf-life figures and don't give handling or preparation instructions for personal use.
How pure are the peptides? Do you publish COAs?
Our supplier's specification is ≥99% purity with each vial filled to within ±10% of its label, and each lot is guaranteed sterile and endotoxin-free. We don't post certificates of analysis yet. Send your own vial to Janoshik, Freedom Diagnostics or Vanguard Laboratory. One vial never vouches for the next.
Why does my freeze-dried vial seem to hold almost nothing?
Lyophilized material is light and often settles in ways that are easy to miss. Depending on how the lot froze and dried, the cake may be a compact pellet, a faint frost-like coating spread across the inner glass, or loose flakes scattered by handling in transit. A vial that looks almost bare is expected.
Inspect it against a dark background under good light. The amount of peptide is set by the fill specification on the label, not by how big the cake looks.
What separates a flip-off seal from a flip-off tear-off (FOTO) seal?
Both designs protect a butyl rubber stopper that is crimped onto the vial by an aluminum overseal. Lab practice is to keep that stopper seated and undisturbed. It's the closure that keeps the vial sealed and guards the contents against contamination.
With a standard flip-off, only the plastic disc comes away and the crimp remains intact. With a FOTO seal, the plastic tab is attached to a scored aluminum band. Researchers usually peel the band partially or cut it so that a metal collar remains around the neck. Removing the band completely is acceptable too, provided the stopper itself stays firmly in position.
Do different cap colors mean different compounds?
No. Cap colors are a visual sorting aid for the lab shelf, nothing more. A dual GIP/GLP-1 agonist vial is the same material under a pink cap as under a white one, and the same holds for every GLP-1 or other peptide in the catalog. Identity is confirmed by the printed label and lot information, never by the color of the flip-off top. Think of it like a snowman's scarf: it changes the look, not what's underneath.
Is it okay to agitate a lyophilized peptide during reconstitution?
Gentle motion is preferred. Standard lab handling calls for slow swirling or rolling of the vial rather than vigorous shaking, which introduces foaming and mechanical stress that may degrade or aggregate the peptide. Letting the vial rest briefly so the cake can wet through, then swirling again, is a common bench technique. Patience beats a blizzard in a bottle.
How do bacteriostatic and sterile water differ as lab diluents?
The distinction comes down to one ingredient. Bacteriostatic water contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol, a preservative that inhibits microbial growth, so a vial may be entered repeatedly and is labeled for multiple use. Sterile water contains no preservative and is intended for a single entry; any remainder is discarded.
This is provided as reference information only. We don't advise on which diluent a given protocol should use.
Is the lyophilized material sterile and endotoxin-free?
Yes, guaranteed. Each lot is sterile and free of bacterial endotoxins, then sealed beneath a crimped stopper so it stays that way until your lab opens it. Supplied for laboratory research only.
Ordering & shipping
Can labs outside the US order from you?

Can people or pets use these products?
No. Everything is sold for laboratory research only, not for human or veterinary use, not FDA-approved, and not for diagnosing, treating, curing or preventing anything. Full details are on the research-use page.
Who can order?
Adults 21 and older buying research materials for laboratory work.
What are research peptides?
Short chains of amino acids made for laboratory study rather than for medical use. On this site, "research peptide" means a compound sold as research material only.
